The Great YouTube “Handle” Land Grab is on

Sunday Nov 14 was the last day for a YouTube channel to claim their new handle.  Starting this week, it’s open season to see if the YouTube ‘Handle’ you want is available. So what is a YouTube Handle and why do you need one? According to YT support “Handles are a way for you to find and connect with creators on YouTube. Handles are unique and short channel identifiers distinct from channel names, and they start with the “@” symbol. For example, @youtubecreators.”  Visible on channel homepages, search results, YouTube Shorts, and comments, Handles are intended to provide all channels with a new custom URL and double as a YouTube verification badge for smaller channels. This last point is particularly important- previously you had to have at least 100 subscribers to get a custom url, but this is not the case with Handles. Handles are limited to 30 characters max and must adhere to YouTube’s Community Guidelines. Read more here https://support.google.com/youtube/search?q=you+tube+handle+how+to+get+one
